We are seeking an innovative Mechanical Technician with strong mechatronics background to join our Robotic R&D Team. The ideal candidate will bridge mechanical design with electronic systems integration while driving project development from concept to completion. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting‑edge technology while developing innovative solutions in a dynamic R&D environment.

Responsibilities

Develop solutions from initial conceptual direction with minimal guidance

Take on mechanical design and development of electro‑mechanical systems

Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software for manufacturing and assembly

Develop jigs and fixtures to conduct testing/validation procedures

Collaborate with electrical and software engineers on integrated solutions

Support research staff by implementing hardware changes

Make rapid prototyping with quick iterative cycles

Work in the San Francisco office 5 days a week

Experience in wire / cable manufacturing

Understand some common coding languages like C++ and Python; work with high autonomy

Install, maintain, and troubleshoot various actuators and sensors in robotic systems

Required Skills

BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field

5+ years experience in mechanical design with focus on mechatronics

Ability to take abstract ideas and convert them into practical engineering solutions

Proficiency in 3D CAD software with SolidWorks

Experience with actuators, sensors, and control systems

Ability to work in a rapid R&D environment

Bonus Skills

Experience with 3D printing prototyping

Experience with machine shop and safety practices

Knowledge of industrial automation and robotics

Familiarity with PLCs and microcontrollers

Familiarity with GD&T

Experience understanding and making electrical diagrams

Salary Range: $110,000-$120,000/K

The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job‑related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
