About The Role Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the Senior Director will serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team, guiding high‑profile media engagements, leading proactive storytelling, and developing rapid‑response strategies.
Lead with Strategy
Develop and execute bold media strategies that position Gap Inc. as a leader in fashion, culture, and purpose.
Partner with executive leadership to craft narratives that reflect our values and business priorities.
Own LinkedIn and non‑traditional media strategies to expand our reach and influence.
Crisis & Reputation Management
Anticipate and prepare for the unexpected with robust crisis communication plans.
Manage sensitive issues with discretion and confidence, protecting the integrity of our brands.
Monitor media sentiment and industry trends to proactively mitigate reputational risks.
Media Relations & Storytelling
Serve as spokesperson for high‑impact stories and issues, representing Gap Inc. with authority and authenticity.
Build and nurture relationships with top‑tier journalists, influencers, and industry voices.
Drive proactive storytelling that showcases our purpose, innovation, and leadership.
Executive Visibility & Thought Leadership
Support CEO and executive visibility and thought leadership through strategic media engagements and social platforms.
Craft compelling content that amplifies leadership voices and reinforces Gap Inc.’s business priorities.
Engage Emerging Media Platforms
Develop a forward‑thinking approach to leverage new forms of media — such as Substack, podcasts, and creator‑driven channels — to amplify brand and corporate storytelling.
Build relationships with influential voices on these platforms and integrate them into broader communications strategies for maximum impact.
Collaboration & Impact
Work closely with PR teams, cross‑functional partners, and external agencies.
Measure effectiveness of media strategies and share insights to continuously refine our approach.
Who You Are
12+ years in media relations and crisis communications, with proven success in high‑stakes environments.
A strategic thinker and master storyteller who thrives under pressure.
Skilled in social media strategy and executive visibility.
A trusted advisor with exceptional judgment, emotional intelligence, and diplomacy.
Experienced in managing budgets, agencies, and cross‑functional teams.
