SUMMARY OF POSITION The Mechanical Designer 1 designs tooling and equipment to be used in the manufacture of large carbon fiber parts and assemblies for aircraft production. They will provide tooling concepts, models, and designs from basic engineering surfaces and customer Statement of Work.

Create tool designs from customer supplied part models and specifications

Load models and engineering, interrogate models, create tooling surfaces

Generate and supply data for off‑site fabrication

Attend and provide support in design reviews with customers

Freehand concept sketches to quickly communicate and develop designs

Internally interface with design leads and manufacturing departments, including quality and inspection

Create and release models and drawings concurrent with project build philosophy

Any additional duties as reasonably assigned by management

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:

BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar field, with less than 3 years of experience

Familiarity with CAD software (Catia, NX, Solidworks, etc) Clear written and oral communication Ability to work individually and in a team environment This position must meet Export Control Compliance requirements, therefore a

US Person

as defined by 22.C.F.R. is required

Required to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance for the entire duration of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar field, with less than 3 years of experience

3+ years of experience with CATIA V5 or V6

Knowledge of manufacturing practices, fabrication

Internship in similar field

Knowledge of materials (metallic and composite)

Ability to free hand sketches to quickly communicate and develop designs

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

None

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Most travel is primarily local during the business day. Some projects may require travel out of the area and overnight stays.
