Responsibilities
Design and continuously improve industrial systems using 3D modeling software based on defined design parameters, functional requirements, and equipment lists
Utilize CAD to prepare detailed drawings for components manufactured in-house and by outside vendors
Use PDM to properly control and revise designs, create and manage standard part libraries
Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures
Utilize and maintain engineering Vault and PDM, part number and data card functionality, engineering design release and engineering change workflows
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8+ years mechanical design experience OR Associate’s degree in CADD and 10+ years experience (excluding internships, co‑ops, or other school projects)
Strong background in designing industrial systems (fluid flow/piping, solids handling, or mechanical manufacturing systems)
Advanced SolidWorks CAD proficiency and strong understanding of quality principles, dimensioning and tolerancing, ASME standards, and ASME 14.5
Advanced SolidWorks PDM and Vault proficiency
Proven ability to manage multiple projects, think critically, and deliver results in complex environments
Ability to apply broad mechanical design expertise to solve complex engineering challenges and guide technical direction
Exercise sound judgment in determining methods, evaluating data, and adapting advanced techniques to achieve project goals
Ability to collaborate across disciplines, influence stakeholders, and provide guidance on complex technical matters
Effective communicator with experience collaborating cross‑functionally and mentoring junior team members
Hands‑on experience with prototyping and using machine/hand tools
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Experience integrating automation hardware, control systems, and robotics into industrial mechanical designs
Passion for sustainability and interest in disruptive, innovative technologies; thrives in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment and is highly self‑motivated
Knowledge of large, complex industrial or chemical systems, including the equipment, subsystems, and operational intricacies involved
Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and New Product Introduction (NPI) methodologies to transition novel prototypes into scalable, production‑ready solutions
Background designing with materials suited for aggressive media, corrosive liquids, or other challenging industrial environments
Demonstrated ability to incorporate human factors, ergonomics, and operational safety considerations into industrial systems designs
Experience using SolidWorks
Previous experience in a start‑up environment
Compensation
The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $100,000–$126,000 and may be more or less depending on skills, experience, and education.
