As a result, the majority of our staff are hybrid and work both from home and onsite. Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and one other day, to be determined by their business unit. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager. DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW The Masterpiece Unit at WGBH has co-produced and presented the Emmy award-winning drama series Masterpiece on PBS since 1971. The Masterpiece Production team handles production, post-production, and video promotions for all platforms. This includes creating Masterpiece program masters and weekly promos for PBS, videos for digital and social media, show reels, trailers, awards submissions, press screeners, and event reels. The unit also provides technical and creative services to the Masterpiece unit and affiliated stakeholders. JOB OVERVIEW Under the supervision of the Senior Series Producer, the Editor is responsible for offline editing, design, and some online editing for a variety of promotional elements: trailers, sizzle reels, promos, teases, behind-the-scenes shorts, social media clips, press clips, and more. For high-profile MASTERPIECE titles, the Editor must be able to meet tight deadlines, be responsive to sometimes contradictory comments from multiple stakeholders, and safeguard the highest quality standards for each project. The Editor is responsible for supporting the creative and technical work of the unit. This includes creative editing, and also: sound design and audio mixing, graphics, animation, and visual effects creation, reformatting materials, color correction, finalizing and exporting materials for the web, technical troubleshooting, and media management. RESPONSIBILITIES Review the Senior Series Producer's creative brief for each project. Review other similar MASTERPIECE projects for reference. Search licensed music library for suitable music and create sound tracks. Structure and edit short Masterpiece promotional and enhancement videos. Revise as per notes from Senior Series Producers and others on the MASTERPIECE team. Create visual effects, animations, and animated text as needed. Create and complete sound design and color-correction to comply with any relevant tech specs. Make multiple versions of each video, optimizing each for different platforms. SKILL SET Advanced knowledge of Avid editing and media management tools. Advanced skills in After Effects, Premiere, and Photoshop. Advanced skills in music editing, sound design, and mixing. Strong skills in text design and animation. Strong skills in digital video formats, converting, exporting, and troubleshooting. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience Fifteen years industry experience in promotions editing. Experience with multiple NLE systems (AVID, Premiere) and design software (AfterEffects, Photoshop). Experience working with clients on tight timelines. Experience with PBS GA promotion guidelines is a plus. SALARY RANGE N/A - N/A Compensation Compensation offered within this range is determined by skills, experience and internal pay equity.
