In-Processing staff creates the initial service request tracking record for paper-based claims in the electronic system and processes electronically filed copyright claims; scans registration materials; property marking; secure stripping; forwarding deposits; placing scanned materials in temporary storage conveyances; and forwarding unscanned, prepped materials for further processing to ICHA (Incomplete Claims Handling Area/Triage). Out-Processing staff receives unprocessed claims and corresponds accordingly. The In-Processing Supervisor manages and provides written and technical guidance for staff up to a GS-09 level on analyzing, processing, IBALing (item, barcode, accession, label), property marking and secure tagging copyright claims. It is a mission critical role that ensures copyright applicants have their work processed for the benefit of the global copyright community. The In-Processing Section, monitored by the In-Processing Section Head, is the inception point for mailed, unprocessed copyright claims and specific mail for other parts of the Library of Congress. The In-Processing Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that copyright submissions, via mail and hand-delivered, are received and processed in a timely manner Human Resources Library of Congress 101 Independence Ave, S.E.
