Description Enchanted Rock is a leader and innovator of Electrical Resiliency‑As‑A‑Service. Our advanced dual‑purpose microgrids protect companies, critical infrastructure, and communities from unexpected power outages, ensuring business continuity and civic durability.

Our microgrids use natural gas and renewable natural gas (RNG) to drive the nation’s most dependable microgrids—while producing significantly lower, sometimes zero, carbon emissions than traditional diesel backup generators. Powered by GraniteEcosystem™, our software system delivers 24/7/365 monitoring, optimization, and forecasting to enable worry‑free, reliable power for businesses.

Responsibilities The Technical Writer serves as the central coordinator for the creation, revision, and governance of operational documentation across Enchanted Rock Operations. This position reports to the Director of Training and is based out of our Houston office on a hybrid schedule.

Coordinate and track the review, approval, and publication process for new and revised operational procedures.

Maintain version control, document history, and archive management for all operational documentation.

Ensure alignment with company document control standards and training requirements.

Ensure document owners write, edit, and format operational procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation in clear, user‑friendly language.

Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), trainers, and field personnel to capture best practices and technical accuracy.

Convert complex processes into visual formats (e.g., diagrams, flowcharts, annotated photos) that enhance clarity and usability.

Coordinate periodic reviews of operational policies and procedures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with current practices.

Conduct periodic gap analyses of the procedure library in collaboration with SMEs to identify areas where new documentation is needed.

Coordinate updates and corrective actions with Safety, Quality, and Operations.

Partner with Safety and Quality teams to ensure procedures meet regulatory and compliance standards.

Work with Instructional Designers to align procedures with training content and qualification requirements.

Support standardization using templates, style guides, and documentation standards.

Manage the document submissions and tracking system and ensure appropriate employees have access to current documentation.

Track metrics related to document status, review cycle times, and completion rates, providing insights to leadership on documentation trends and improvement opportunities.

Qualifications Have experience in energy, utilities, manufacturing, or maintenance operations.

Are familiar with procedure or document control systems.

Have worked in learning and development environments or in close collaboration with instructional design teams.

Understand safety and quality management systems (e.g., ISO, OSHA, or EPA standards).

Can create or edit visual content to support procedures (e.g., photos, schematics, infographics).

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

3–5 years of experience writing or editing technical documentation, preferably in an industrial, energy, or field operations environment.

Proven ability to translate complex technical processes into clear, step‑by‑step documentation.

Experience coordinating documentation workflows and approval processes.

Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., SharePoint) and version control best practices.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with tools such as Visio and Canva preferred.

Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow‑through.

Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with SMEs, trainers, and leaders across the organization.

Physical requirements and working conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment. Stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen. Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

Travel periodically to job sites and remote locations for documentation review and process observation.
