Overview
San Bernardino County is recruiting a
Principal Appraiser
to manage and coordinate annual property appraisal functions. The role directs through subordinate supervisors and oversees operations in a specific section which may include real and/or personal property.
Responsibilities
Develop department-wide training and standards for all appraiser and auditor-appraiser staff.
Review appraisals, audits, and related assessment roll corrections.
Appraise and audit the most difficult and complex properties.
Represent the Assessor at appeal hearings and other court proceedings.
Qualifications Required certifications and experience:
Advanced Appraiser’s Certificate issued by the California State Board of Equalization.
At least 5 years of full-time experience as a licensed Appraiser in a California County Assessor's Office, including two years of commercial/industrial appraisals and one year of full-scope supervision, obtained within the last ten years.
Two years of full-scope supervisory experience.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, public administration, or related field.
Successful completion of the San Bernardino County Management & Leadership Academy (MLA).
Experience developing and presenting training materials.
Experience representing the Assessor at Assessment Appeal Board hearings.
