Structural Designer I
to join our dynamic team.
This individual will collaborate with architects, engineers, modelers, and detailers to transform design concepts into detailed structural plans, specifications, and formal calculation packages. They will utilize CAD software and other industry-standard tools to develop accurate designs. Attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and a solid understanding of structural engineering principles are crucial.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in producing drawings, specifications, and calculations during a project’s design phase from conceptual to construction documents under close supervision.
Assist with construction administration tasks such as reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and making site visits.
Assist in developing structural designs and analytical models for various building types and materials.
Review and revise designs based on feedback from senior designers and stakeholders.
Perform calculations and analyses to ensure structural integrity and compliance with building codes (basic knowledge of common codes, with support from the team).
Use CAD software, including Tekla Structures, to create 2D drawings and 3D models.
Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and deliver high- quality design solutions within budget.
Participate in internal project design meetings to gain practical knowledge and understanding of project requirements.
Stay updated on industry trends, code updates, and advancements in structural design techniques and technologies.
Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and efficiency enhancement.
Contribute to a culture of shared leadership and accountability, supporting project success and continuous improvement.
Required Skills and Abilities
Basic knowledge of structural engineering principles, codes, and standards.
Familiarity with structural design, analysis, materials, and construction practices.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to propose and evaluate solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to ask clear, concise questions and convey complex technical information.
Strong organizational skills and capability to manage tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Meticulous attention to detail for accurate design documentation.

Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a structural focus.
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification and NCEES record maintenance.
Relevant coursework; internship experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit or stand at a desk for prolonged periods and work on a computer.
Ability to travel for site visits across various projects.
Capability to lift a minimum of 15 pounds if needed.
