The Sr. External Communications Director supports Corporate Public Relations efforts to drive visibility for key business initiatives. Reporting to the Corporate Vice President of External Communications, this individual thrives in a fast-paced environment. They’ll use strong project management and writing skills to support an integrated corporate external communications program, ensuring consistent messaging and alignment with strategic business objectives through collaboration with internal communications and content teams. In this pivotal role, you will actively champion the ‘New Equifax’ narrative, translating our advancements in EFX.AI, cloud‑native technology, and differentiated data into compelling stories that resonate with top‑tier media. You will serve as a key steward of our corporate reputation, helping to articulate how we are powering the world with knowledge to drive global financial inclusion.
This position offers the flexibility to work remotely two days a week, or from our state‑of‑the‑art global Headquarters located in Midtown Atlanta, GA (This is NOT a fully remote role).
This position does not offer immigration sponsorship (current or future) including F-1 STEM OPT extension support.
What You’ll Do
Proactively and reactively engage with targeted media outlets to support strategic storytelling efforts
Manage global corporate communications editorial calendar
Develop concise written communications in the form of press releases, newsroom stories, byline articles, and other media‑facing materials
Uncover and secure speaking engagements (both in‑person and pre‑recorded/virtual) and awards opportunities
Develop and maintain targeted media lists
Monitor media coverage and track relevant mentions and trends
Develop quantitative and qualitative reporting on key external communications metrics
Effectively collaborate across the Corporate Marketing and Communications team
What Experience You Need
10+ years of communications experience, including internal and external communications experience at a technology company, financial services firm, or a PR agency focused on financial services and/or B2B technology clients
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
Outstanding media relations capabilities
Experience or demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team‑based environment within a heavily matrixed organization
Proven ability to communicate deeply technical content and to make that content accessible to non‑technical audiences
Strong writing skills, knowledge of AP Style, and a deadline‑driven approach to content creation and experience writing for a variety of audiences
What Could Set You Apart
Experience with and strong knowledge of Google Workspace and Wrike
Experience with M&A communications would be a plus, but not required.
