Director, Corporate Communications
Capital One is seeking a Director, Corporate Communications to lead strategic communications initiatives that enhance the company’s reputation and support key business objectives. This role involves managing high‑impact programs, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, and working with internal and external partners to deliver creative and effective communication strategies.
About the Role As a Director on the Corporate Communications team, you will be a strategist, performer, and people leader. Key responsibilities include serving as a strategic advisor to senior‑level internal leaders, leading data‑backed integrated internal communications campaigns, building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, leveraging data to evaluate results and optimize programs, overseeing team operations including budgeting and best practices, and staying informed about industry trends to inform strategy.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as a strategic advisor to senior‑level internal leaders and partners on communications initiatives.
Lead planning and execution of data‑backed, integrated internal communications campaigns aligned with enterprise and line‑of‑business priorities.
Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Leverage data to evaluate results, extract insights, and optimize future programs.
Oversee team operations, including budgeting and development of best practices.
Stay informed about industry trends to inform and enhance communication strategies.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or military experience.
At least 8 years of communications experience.
Preferred Qualifications
9+ years of experience in public relations or communications, ideally within industries such as financial services, technology, or consumer brands.
Compensation Salary ranges by location: McLean, VA: $184,800 – $210,900 for Director, Communications; Richmond, VA: $168,000 – $191,700 for Director, Communications. The role may also earn performance‑based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives.
