Overview A leading MEP design consultancy is seeking a Mechanical Design Director to lead mechanical engineering operations in the Tampa office. This role oversees project delivery, drives technical excellence, supports strategic growth, and ensures high-quality engineering solutions across multiple sectors including Healthcare, Commercial, Government, and Education.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing mechanical engineering team.
Manage cross-functional teams and collaborate closely with electrical, plumbing, and project management groups.
Promote a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and accountability.
Project Oversight
Oversee mechanical design delivery for complex building projects.
Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
Provide senior-level technical guidance and resolve complex engineering challenges.
Review and approve mechanical design packages, calculations, and specifications.
Financial & Operational Management
Lead cost analysis, budgeting, and financial forecasting for mechanical engineering projects.
Manage departmental performance, resource allocation, and workload planning.
Support the development of proposals, fee structures, and scope documentation.
Strategic Planning
Contribute to long-term strategic planning for the Tampa office and wider business.
Identify market trends, growth opportunities, and potential client partnerships.
Support business development efforts and strengthen key client relationships.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) required.

Excellent communication, team leadership, and strategic thinking skills.
