Senior Telecom Design Consultant
Position within telecommunications engineering consulting firm specializing in low‑voltage and telecommunications infrastructure solutions.
Base pay range: $100,000 - $150,000 per year.
Job Description Lead telecommunications infrastructure design projects from concept through construction, mentoring junior staff and collaborating with multi‑disciplinary teams on data centers, commercial facilities, and mission‑critical infrastructure.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead design and documentation of low‑voltage telecommunications systems for commercial and mission‑critical facilities
Create comprehensive telecom system models and coordination drawings using Revit software
Interface with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure quality project delivery within established timelines
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior design staff
Develop and review construction drawings, technical specifications, and project scope documentation
Coordinate telecom designs with other building disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery
Participate in client meetings, project coordination sessions, and site visits as required
Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, code requirements, and emerging technologies
Support business development activities and client relationship management
Ensure all deliverables meet company quality standards and client expectations
Required Experience / Skills
10‑20 years of proven experience in telecommunications or low‑voltage systems design and consulting
Extensive hands‑on expertise with Revit software is mandatory – must demonstrate advanced proficiency
Strong knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure, cabling systems, and industry standards
Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to interface effectively with clients and team members
Strong organizational and project coordination abilities
Proactive, solution‑oriented mindset with ability to work independently and collaboratively
Experience with construction document preparation and specification development
Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and best practices in telecommunications design
Nice‑to‑Haves
Data center project experience is a significant advantage
RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) certification is highly desirable
Experience working in a consulting environment or similar fast‑paced technical services firm
Background with mission‑critical facility design and infrastructure requirements
Familiarity with other design software platforms and collaboration tools
Previous experience mentoring or training junior technical staff
