Responsibilities The Structural Project Designer will work independently on small projects and as a team member on larger projects under the guidance of a Structural Project Engineer. Responsibilities include:

Independently complete calculations and drawings for small projects

Develop job‑specific specifications for less complex projects

Coordinate with architectural, interiors, and other engineering disciplines for project coordination

Perform construction administration duties, including field observations, responding to RFIs, submittal reviews, and evaluating contractor change orders

Perform calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software

Communicate design issues and solutions with the design team and owner clients

Understand industry standard design processes and construction means and methods

Work within project scope, budgets, and design approach to deliver projects to clients on time, on budget, and at a high level of client service

Assist with development of design standards

Capabilities and Credentials

Requisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes

Strong knowledge of structural systems, seismic design, construction means and methods, materials, and industry standards

Ability to communicate concepts and ideas verbally and in written form to a diverse audience of architects, engineers, and owner clients

Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule

Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively both independently and in team settings

Ability to collaborate in project team settings and engage in creative and critical thought

ASCE41 and retrofit experience, non‑linear analysis, DSA/HCAI experience, and federal project experience are a plus

Good driving record and valid driver’s license required

Education and Experience

Minimum of 5 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering required, Master’s degree preferred

Professional Engineering license required, Structural Engineering license preferred

Experience with Autodesk Revit, Microsoft Office, and industry‑standard structural engineering software (CSI, RISA, RAM, etc.)

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements.

Pay Range

Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas – Min $100,000 – Max $145,000

Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA areas – Min $107,300 – Max $155,500
