Position : Program and Marketing Specialist

Responsibilities
Event Assistance: Support council events by preparing materials (e.g., printing, gift bags), setting up venues, and assisting with registration and onsite logistics.
Volunteer Support: Communicate with adult volunteers, ensure training and resources are up to date, and provide responsive service.
Program Compliance: Assist with ensuring programs follow Scouting America’s national standards and safety policies.
Administrative Tasks: Use digital tools to maintain accurate program records (attendance, advancements, registrations).
Marketing & Communications
Content Creation: Write engaging content such as short articles (“Campfire Stories”), press releases, and social media posts to promote council events and Scouting stories.
Email & Digital Communications: Draft and manage email campaigns and newsletters using tools like Constant Contact; maintain clean and organized contact lists.
Website Updates: Regularly update the council website content to reflect current programs, events, and announcements.
Analytics & Reporting: Track and report on the performance of digital outreach efforts, including website traffic, email open rates, and social engagement.
Media Production: Capture and edit photos and videos from events for promotional use.
Community Engagement: Support outreach initiatives and assist the marketing team in building partnerships with local organizations to expand program visibility and reach.
Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with digital tools such as Constant Contact, WordPress, Canva, or similar platforms.
Comfortable working independently and on a team.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Photography/videography skills are a plus.
Familiarity with Scouting programs (preferred, but not required).
Schedule
Part-time up to 20 hours a week, with occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for events.
