The
Digital/Web Content Manager
leads the university’s digital strategy and is expected to independently research, propose, and implement the newest trends to ensure the university is reaching desired audiences.
This position is expected to analyze website metrics from a user experience perspective, develop a search engine optimization (SEO) strategy, create visually engaging designs, implement an information hierarchy, and utilize cutting-edge technology.
The Digital/Web Content Manager works with a variety of clients across the university to both update and maintain their websites as well as train others on tools and best-practices on how to maintain and update their sites themselves.
Responsibilities
Work with University Communications & Marketing, New Student Services and other departments to promote programs, recruit and retain students, and achieve other university objectives
Perform day-to-day website maintenance to provide current, accurate information about the university for faculty, staff, students and the public by:
Making updates to web page content, including text, images, multimedia, documents and forms
Creating new web or landing pages, as requested or needed
Preparing images for web posting, which may include resizing, cropping and compressing
Creating and maintaining permissions settings on the OmniUpdate (OUCampus) content management system (CMS). Train faculty and staff on the OUCampus CMS
Work with, advise and support campus constituencies who use third-party software/website products
Supervise the Assistant Web Developer and set priorities, task and projects
Maintain good working relationship with web team at flagship Montana State University in Bozeman
Required Qualifications, Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Proficiency and experience in web design/maintenance
History of managing and working within a CMS
Ability to articulate best practices in website design and usability
Understanding of website analytics and ability to produce reports
Experience with search engine optimization
Experience with developing web architecture and hierarchy
Knowledge of website accessibility
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
Working knowledge of web programming languages such as HTML, CSS, etc.
Ability to work collaboratively to enhance the image and reputation of the university
Ability to gather and analyze data, evaluate solutions and alternatives to determine and effectively provide final recommendations
Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and problem-solve
Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
Ability to exercise independent judgment
Preferred Qualifications, Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s or associate degree in digital media, communications, computer science or related degree
Experience in the field of Higher Education
Experience with OUCampus CMS
