Instructional Designer – Faculty Salary: $72,387.00 - $96,951.00 annually

Overview Merced College invites an experienced Instructional Designer faculty to join our Innovation Center team. The role supports equitable, accessible, high‑impact teaching practices, guides faculty in progressive online and hybrid instruction, and promotes emerging instructional technologies. The faculty member will contribute to AI‑enhanced instruction, immersive learning, competency‑based education, and assessment initiatives that advance student success.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement effective online courses and blended learning experiences.

Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate media technologies, create course templates, and support curriculum development.

Deliver workshops and training on course development, online instruction, and learning science principles.

Provide instructional design support for accessibility compliance and technology‑mediated learning.

Conduct learning outcomes assessment and support campus‑wide initiatives that elevate student success.

Maintain current knowledge of pedagogical and technical trends in online education.

Qualifications – Required

Master’s degree in Instructional Design/Technology, Educational Technology, or related field (or equivalent).

Current experience in instructional design, online learning development, and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).

Proficiency with current technology tools related to teaching and willingness to adopt future developments.

Knowledge of accessibility requirements and culturally affirming DEIA, anti‑racist principles.

Tenure‑track faculty status in a discipline (or assignment with instructional design services).

Qualifications – Preferred

Experience working collaboratively with administration, faculty, and staff on online course development.

Experience with innovative teaching methods, curriculum development, and technology integration.

Experience producing instructional materials and leveraging technology to support teaching.
