Organizational Overview Jazz Hands For Autism (JHFA) is a young nonprofit founded in May 2014. We are a talent advocacy group that helps musicians on the autism spectrum turn their passion for music into a sustainable income. JHFA partners with the Jazz Hands Musicians Academy (JHMA) — a music‑based vocational program that provides individualized lessons, performance training, and artist development services for individuals with autism.
Job Overview The Director of Development & Communications is a dynamic role essential to the organization. Responsibilities include spearheading development and fundraising campaigns and overseeing all aspects of organizational communications and outreach.

Job Responsibilities & Duties
Development & Fundraising
Oversee the full grant life‑cycle from sourcing to reporting, including:
Creating and maintaining grant boilerplates
Build and cultivate a recurring donor base, tracking metrics such as:
Donor retention rate
Average gift size
Donor upgrade rate
Response rate to outreach
New donor acquisition
Donor satisfaction surveys
Develop financial and in‑kind partnerships
Maintain the Kindful donor database, Airtable grant database, and Asana grant tracking; train staff on system use
Collaborate with the finance team to obtain budgets, financial reports, and other documents needed for donors and grants
Communications
Maintain all organizational social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.)
Ensure consistent engagement and produce original content across platforms
Run direct email campaigns via Mailchimp and direct mail outreach when applicable
Facilitate and maintain press partnerships
Data Management
Partner with the data department to develop and maintain effective data management procedures
Guide the Coordinator of Curriculum and Technology on data practices supporting grant initiatives
Build systems for grant reporting data needs
Utilize data to create compelling social media content, grant drafts, templates, and reports
Qualifications & Skills
Background in nonprofit management, fundraising, and development
Experience in data management and analysis for fundraising and outreach decisions
Strong communications background with proficiency in social media tools
Experience in donor development, outreach, and sponsorship development
Willingness to participate in further grant‑writer/fundraising training
Minimum 3 years of fundraising experience
Preferred: 1 year Asana, 1 year Google Docs & Sheets, 1 year Microsoft Office, familiarity with Mailchimp, Kindful, and all social media platforms
Schedule & Travel
Flexible schedule with occasional evenings or weekends for events or meetings
Local travel as needed to meet donors and partners
