Interior Designer
Hybrid – Orange County, CA
Agathus Studios is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Interior Designer to support our design team across ongoing residential projects, sourcing, documentation, and studio operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced design environment and is eager to grow within a boutique, high-end studio.

We strongly prefer candidates who live locally or within close proximity to Costa Mesa, CA as this role requires regular in-person collaboration in the studio as well as site visits and vendor meetings throughout Orange County.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Design & Documentation
Space planning, concepts, and design development
Create and update drawings, plans, elevations, and other documentation
Help prepare presentation decks, mood boards, FF&E packages, and consolidated bid packets
Prepare and refine design deliverables for client meetings and internal reviews
2. Project Coordination & Logistics
Help manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables in collaboration with internal team members and external partners
Coordinate with vendors, showrooms, and trades for quotes, lead times, and appointments
Participate in site walks, installations, and punch lists; document site conditions and follow up on action items
Maintain detailed project notes, specifications, and updates
3. Sourcing, Procurement & Inventory
Source art, antiques, furniture, lighting, fixtures, finishes, and décor in alignment with the design direction and budget
Request pricing, samples, and product information; maintain organized records
Prepare proposals, spec sheets, and purchase lists
Assist with tracking orders, receiving, condition checks, and inventory management
4. Studio, Library & Gallery Support
Maintain and organize the materials, samples, and fabric library
Assist with styling vignettes, floor sets, and gallery/showroom layouts as needed
Support in keeping studio, project bins, and materials organized and presentation-ready
5. Research, Trends & Visual Communication
Conduct research on products, materials, finishes, and design precedents
Stay up to date on industry trends, innovative materials, and emerging brands
Compile information into clear, visually compelling formats for internal and client use
6. Cross-Functional Support
Collaborate closely with:
Principals
Designers
Project Managers
Executive Assistant
Operations & Logistics Team
Trade partners, including vendors, fabricators, and contractors
Assist with occasional content support (styling for shoots, behind-the-scenes documentation, etc.)
Take on additional tasks as needed to support the design and studio operations
Strong communication, follow-through, and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications: Required
Bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture, or related field
3+ years of full-time experience in residential interior design
Strong design eye and passion for interiors, architecture, and storytelling
Proficiency in one or more of: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Studio Designer, Canva
Extremely organized with strong time-management skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, and open to constructive feedback
Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
Tech-savvy and able to learn new software platforms quickly
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
Active, regular user of social media platforms
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and vehicle registration
Willing and able to drive to various locations within Orange County and Los Angeles for site visits, vendor and client meetings, etc.
Preferred
Experience in high-end residential interior design or a closely related creative field
Strong drawing and sketching abilities
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (boxes, samples, décor, small furniture, etc.) using proper safety techniques
Ability to navigate office, gallery, and jobsite environments (including stairs and varied site conditions)
Occasional evening/weekend availability for events, installations, vendor meetings, or shoots
