Bridge Designer Early Career – STV
We have an immediate need for a Structural/Bridge Engineering Specialist to join our Transportation Team located in our Boston office. This position involves analysis, design, and inspection of highway, rail, and pedestrian bridges and associated structures. We are looking for a motivated individual who wants to be part of a successful, growing practice within a firm that values integrity, determination, and drive and rewards individuals accordingly. Responsibilities
Work as an integral part of the Bridge Practice in our Boston office.
Prepare well‑organized and reviewable structural calculations for bridges and related structures.
Perform bridge inspections as a team member, take inspection notes, prepare inspection reports, sketches and additional documentation.
Prepare structural drawings and quantity takeoffs under the supervision of a senior engineer.
Collaborate with senior engineers for ongoing technical guidance.
Support task delivery within schedule and budget.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
Solid structural analysis and design skills with an understanding of related engineering disciplines needed to complete transportation and infrastructure projects.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to form effective relationships with staff.
Physically capable of performing continuous field work, including working at heights and in close quarters; climbing; and carrying ladders and gear.
Successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record check and a valid Driver’s License is required.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred.
