Director of Visual Arts Education – Full‑time
Manhasset, NY
Pay Range $65,000 – $80,000 per year
Overview Teach and mentor motivated students, work alongside practicing artists in a creative community, and grow with a team that invests in your development from day one.
Responsibilities
Teach art and/or digital design classes: Teach weekly art and/or digital art classes and summer camps for a variety of ages and media.
Ensure student success: Actively engage with students and teachers to observe, document, and communicate progress and growth opportunities.
Provide hospitality service and communication: Conduct proactive check‑ins with parents, students, and families; support makeup scheduling, discuss progress, and upsell additional classes/camps.
Implement One River methodology curriculum: Provide lesson plans/resources on time, implement the methodology in each class, and contribute to lesson plan development regularly.
Run a best‑in‑class studio: Order and restock art supplies, clean and organize studio spaces and student artwork, and oversee digital lab maintenance.
Student exhibitions: Collect, curate, and install school & community exhibitions; plan and prompt opening receptions for student shows and support related special events.
Qualifications
BA/BS in Visual Art, Art Education or Design
Master’s a plus or equivalent professional experience
5+ years experience teaching visual arts for K‑12 and/or adults; digital art skills are a plus.
Track record of high‑quality instruction, classroom management, and student progress.
Clear communicator, organized, and energized by a busy studio environment.
Passion for art history, contemporary art, and a “students‑first” mindset.

Schedule & Compensation
Full‑time, 5 days per week with regular weekend (Saturday or Sunday) teaching hours.
Salary: $65,000–$80,000 base + quarterly bonus eligibility.
