Overview and Responsibilities CBS Newspath is seeking an Associate Producer with a strong commitment to journalism to coordinate news production and newsgathering operations for its Regional team. The Associate Producer will work directly with stations/affiliates in the Northeast and Midwest parts of the United States, including New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois. A strong knowledge of weather, politics, the economy, and other topics that impact this region is required. The ideal candidate will also have excellent people/customer service skills and must be familiar with all major social media platforms for engaging audiences on a digital level, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Additionally, you must be well-versed in the feel and best practices for social-friendly videos (including rights & clearances).
Manage the network's response to breaking news and respond to video and editorial requests from CBS broadcasts, owned stations, affiliates and clients
Clip and publish video and scripts and assist in the transmission and distribution of live video, edited video and correspondent packages
Work with sources to confirm and verify facts and video elements, especially during breaking news
Spot viral and pre-trending content and turn it around for our brand
Weekend and nightside responsibilities
Basic Qualifications
3+ years local and/or network TV news experience or show producer experience preferred
Requires strong editorial judgement & excellent writing skills
Strong editing skills a must. Avid preferable
A focus on multi-media content is required
Additional Qualifications
Requires highly developed relationship building skills
Ability to multi-task and thrive in a dynamic, quickly changing environment is crucial
Understanding of TV newsgathering and transmission technology
Knowledge of regional television markets and station relationships a plus
Degree in broadcast journalism or related field preferred
Additional Information Hiring Salary Range: $66,300.00 - 66,300.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. Benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
