By aggregating public and proprietary utility, geotechnical, environmental, and jurisdictional data, we provide engineers and developers with real‑time, accurate information that accelerates decision‑making and reduces risk.
Position Description CivilGrid’s Data team uncovers and manages the foundational datasets underlying the CivilGrid app. This role is a key early hire for a new Data‑team group focused on delivering insights from engineering record drawings and as‑builts.
Responsibilities
Interpret and markup utilities record drawings and as‑builts for digitization capture
Conduct QA/QC on all digitized work products
Process digitized data using ETL scripts
Project‑manage task workflows and coordinate with stakeholders on priorities and timelines
Continuously test and implement new tools to improve processes
Serve as internal subject‑matter expert for all things CAD
Who You Are
3+ years of hands‑on experience as a civil CAD technician/drafter
Preferred: Experience in utilities design at an ENR 500 engineering consulting firm, utility agency, DOT, or subsurface utility engineering (SUE) contractor
Strong ability to interpret civil engineering plans, record drawings, and as‑builts
Proficient with CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation)
Technical tinkerer who enjoys learning new software, tools, and techniques
Organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision
Excited to work in a fast‑moving startup environment that values autonomy, creativity, and impact
Bonus: familiarity with SUE standards and practices
Bonus: proficiency with GIS tools

Hybrid work in Denver, CO, Charlotte, NC, Kansas City, MO, or Philadelphia, PA (2‑3 days a week in person)
