Principal Embedded Software Engineer (UI Framework)
Location: Raleigh, NC | Company: Baxter International Inc.
Salary: $112,000 – $154,000 annually (base). Additional bonuses may apply.
What You'll Be Doing
Design and develop embedded software applications using the Qt framework, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
Lead architectural design of front‑end software, focusing on modularity, scalability, and maintainability, ensuring seamless integration of software and hardware components.
Collaborate across functions with hardware engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define system requirements and ensure cohesive integration.
Mentor and guide junior and mid‑level engineers, fostering continuous learning and improvement.
Conduct thorough code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices, and implement testing strategies to validate software functionality and performance.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in embedded systems development and verification to drive innovation.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for software designs, processes, and testing procedures, sharing knowledge with the team.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; 5+ years of embedded software development experience, 1+ year in a UI framework.
Proficient in C++, UI framework or Qt/QML, with strong understanding of object‑oriented programming principles and embedded Linux.
Knowledge of UI/UX design principles for embedded systems; demonstrated experience in writing, debugging, and optimizing C/C++ code for embedded platforms.
Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills, proven leadership ability, and experience managing technical projects and mentoring.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with additional programming languages such as Python.
Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and continuous integration/deployment tools (Jenkins).
Experience with automated testing using Squish library for Qt.
