Madison Magazine, part of Morgan Murphy Media, is seeking an Editor in Chief to lead our monthly publication and digital content that serves the Greater Madison area. The role combines visionary editorial leadership with strategic business oversight, ensuring journalistic excellence while driving growth and financial performance.
Position Summary The Editor in Chief will oversee editorial content, collaborate with the business team, manage budgeting and resource allocation, and cultivate partnerships and community events that strengthen the magazine’s brand.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the editorial team to produce compelling, high‑quality content aligned with the magazine’s mission.
Ensure all editorial output maintains the highest standards of journalistic integrity and creativity.
Collaborate closely with the business team to align content with revenue strategies.
Participate in budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation to optimize financial health.
Foster relationships with community partners, advertisers, and stakeholders.
Oversee planning and execution of community events that enhance brand presence.
Drive innovation in content delivery, including multimedia collaborations and digital initiatives.
Build audience and brand through collaboration with News 3 Now local editorial team.
Qualifications
Proven experience in editorial leadership, preferably in regional or lifestyle magazines.
Strong business and financial understanding related to publishing or media.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Passion for the Madison area and its diverse communities.
Ability to balance creative vision with practical financial management.
