Senior Design Architect Porta Negra is a fast‑growing high‑end residential design & construction company in Miami. We are divided into two branches that cover residential remodels, additions and new construction. Under Porta Negra Design & Build we offer clients a one‑stop shop to transform their homes through thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and an exceptional client experience. Under Porta Negra Homes we develop our own properties for sale. Our work is creative, collaborative, and fast‑paced.

Location: Miami, FL, US

Position Overview This is a senior‑level role – not just a sit‑behind‑a‑desk drafting position. You will lead the architectural plans creation, coordinate with engineers, create detailed sections, own the permit process, prepare visual and technical renderings, and support the design and selection of finishes. We’re seeking a licensed architect with 10+ years of experience, who blends strong architectural skills, interior design intuition, and a warm, confident, client‑focused personality. We’re looking for someone who can own the work, juggle multiple projects at the same time, and work efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the full architectural design process for residential projects.

Produce floor plans, elevations, site plans, and detailed architectural sections and cross‑sections.

Ensure designs meet code, homeowner goals, and Porta Negra’s design standards.

Coordinate with structural, MEP, civil, and other consultants, ensuring all plans align with architectural intent.

Own the permitting process with the goal to get permits approved in a quick, effective manner. Review city comments, analyze reviewer feedback, and prepare revisions. Meet with city reviewers when needed to resolve issues diplomatically.

Prepare visual renderings and present design concepts clearly and comfortably to clients.

Research finishing materials (vanities, flooring, countertops, plumbing fixtures, etc.) and curate options for clients.

Interact with the different construction teams when questions arise and conduct site visits to ensure proper execution of plans.

Technical & Visualization Skills

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and rendering software such as V‑Ray, Enscape, Lumion, etc.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Qualifications

Licensed Architect.

10+ years of professional experience in residential architecture.

Experience producing architectural sections, details, and technical drawings.

Experience coordinating with engineers (structural, MEP, etc.).

Experience interacting with city reviewers during plan review. Must have worked with Miami‑Dade, Pinecrest, Coral Gables, City of Miami, and South Miami.

Experience creating renderings.

Experience with kitchen and bathroom design. Must enjoy interior design.

Fluent in English and Spanish – must comfortably present and discuss design in both languages.

Clear and effective communicator with the maturity and professional presence to work seamlessly with clients, city reviewers, or subcontractors.

A true self‑starter who takes initiative, anticipates needs, and doesn’t wait for instruction.

Organized, reliable, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects at once.

Strong collaboration skills and humble, team‑oriented energy.

What We Offer
