IO Music Academy is a fast-growing, community-driven music production school dedicated to helping artists level up through hands‑on education. Fresh off opening a brand‑new, expanded San Francisco campus, we’re looking to grow our team of talented educators.
IO Music Academy has been providing a safe, creative space for students to learn and grow in Los Angeles since 2017. We are a community of artists and educators working together to offer forward‑thinking music production education. Our classes are designed for everyone, from underground DJs to bedroom pop stars.
Role Description We are seeking an experienced music production educator with real‑world industry experience. Priority will be given to individuals qualified to instruct 3‑month courses on the following subjects:
Mixing & Mastering, Synthesis and Sound Design, and Vocal Recording/Engineering.
Classes take place once per week for 2 hours. Additional weekly availability is required for prep time, training, meetings, student assessment, and private lessons.
What You’ll Do
Teach small, engaged classes focused on mixing and/or mastering techniques
Develop and deliver a clear, structured curriculum for students at varying experience levels
Provide individualized feedback and guidance on student projects
Mentor students toward industry‑standard workflows and real‑world expectations
Foster a supportive, inspiring learning environment
Are a bona fide audio professional with a strong portfolio
100% fluent in Ableton Live (Logic Pro, Pro Tools, FL Studio, etc, are a bonus)
Understand current trends in electronic music, pop, hip‑hop, etc.
Have prior teaching, mentoring, or workshop experience (preferred but not required)
Communicate clearly, confidently, and encouragingly
Are excited about shaping the next generation of music makers
