Job Title: Audio‑Video (AV) Conferencing Engineer
Location: Onsite- Windsor, CT, USA
Job Summary
The Field Services Audio‑Video (AV) Conferencing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, operating, and maintaining enterprise‑grade AV solutions across meeting rooms, collaboration spaces, and virtual platforms. This role ensures seamless, reliable communication experiences through proactive monitoring, rapid incident response, and continuous optimization of AV systems. The engineer will collaborate closely with IT, Facilities, Security, and business stakeholders to deliver best‑in‑class conferencing and live event support.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and configure AV systems including microphones, speakers, DSPs, cameras, displays, switchers, codecs, and room control systems.
- Ensure solution compatibility with enterprise IT standards (networking, security, VLANs/QoS, PoE, Wi‑Fi) and architectural constraints.
- Prepare documentation for AV layouts, wiring diagrams, bill of materials (BOM), and system configurations.
- Install, commission, and validate AV hardware and software in conference rooms, huddle spaces, training rooms, executive suites, and event venues.
- Configure video endpoints and control hubs (e.g., Cisco Control Hub, Poly Lens) and integrate with meeting platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms).
- Perform device resets, firmware/OS updates, and feature enablement in accordance with change management processes.
Operations & Support
- Provide real‑time technical support for video conferencing sessions, webinars, town halls, and high‑profile executive meetings—conducting dry runs and onsite/remote support.
- Maintain hotline support for AV‑related incidents and ServiceNow requests; triage, resolve, and elevate issues per SLAs.
- Troubleshoot hardware/software conflicts, network/connectivity issues, echo and feedback, audio intelligibility, camera framing, and content sharing problems.
- Conduct routine health checks, including periodic testing of microphones, cameras, displays, control panels, and room scheduling devices.
- Monitor AV system performance, apply patches/upgrades, and track device status via management consoles and analytics dashboards.
- Operate in‑house and portable AV systems for live events (mixing audio, switching video, managing recording/streaming).
- Maintain accurate AV inventory, spares, warranties, and licensing; update user guides, SOPs, and knowledge base articles.
Governance, Documentation & Stakeholder Engagement
- Ensure compliance with organizational security and operational standards, including access controls, data privacy, and safety policies.
- Develop and maintain documentation for IT processes and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding.
- Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements, translate needs into technical solutions, and provide user training and adoption support.
- Monitor system performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and user experience.
- Stay current with technology trends in AV, UC, and collaboration to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Audio Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 3–5+ years of hands‑on experience in enterprise AV systems design, installation, and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of AV hardware and software, including microphones, speakers, cameras, displays, and control systems (Crestron, Extron, Q‑SYS).
- Proficiency in video conferencing platforms such as Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms, including endpoint configuration and management tools (Cisco Control Hub, Poly Lens).
- Basic understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, VLANs, QoS, PoE) and ability to collaborate with network teams for AV over IP solutions.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and experience using ITSM tools like ServiceNow for incident and change management.
Preferred Skills
- Industry certifications such as CTS (AVIXA), CTS‑I/CTS‑D, or vendor‑specific credentials (Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Shure).
- Experience with live event support, including audio mixing, video switching, and streaming operations.
- Knowledge of room acoustics, DSP tuning, and advanced troubleshooting for audio/video quality optimization.
- Exposure to automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell) for AV device management and reporting.
