Do you have a passion for storytelling and the ability to lead creative teams? As a Creative Producer I, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the captivating narratives produced by our enhanced editing teams, SCEU (Sportscenter Enhancement Unit) and RISE. In this role, you will manage day-to-day operations, driving collaboration across teams to ensure that content resonates with our audience and aligns with ESPN's high standards.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to unify the SCEU and RISE teams, optimizing staff and resources for maximum impact.
- Plan and create engaging storytelling elements in both short and long form that respond effectively to sports events and viewer interests.
- Work closely with show leaders to pitch ideas and respond to content needs based on the sports calendar, ensuring alignment with ESPN's viewer trends.
- Maintain an agile response to breaking sports news, ensuring timely and relevant editorial production.
- Oversee all stages of production from inception to completion, managing timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
- Adapt to regular changes in production priorities and collaborate seamlessly across teams and departments.
- Establish and manage production schedules, ensuring projects meet deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, troubleshooting production challenges as needed.
- Identify opportunities for integration across other ESPN platforms, especially for high-rated events or initiatives.
- Supervise personnel assignments and mentor junior production staff.
- Maintain production documentation and communication, ensuring transparency and organization.
- Manage the budgeting process throughout production, from projections to actualization.
- Be prepared to work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends, in a collaborative production environment.
- 7 years of progressively complex studio or related journalistic experience.
- Proven expertise in creating and producing compelling sports content.
- Strong understanding of production management workflows and broadcast execution.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills; adept at writing and editing.
- Technical knowledge of storytelling production and post-production workflows.
- Ability to lead a team in accordance with legal, ethical, and business standards.
- Stay informed on sports news, popular culture, and social media trends.
- Skilled at collaborating across multiple departments to enhance efficiency.
- Experience mentoring emerging producers is essential.
- Ability to thrive in a deadline-oriented environment focused on quick turnarounds.
- Familiarity with sports history and fandom.
- Understanding of ESPN's market strategies and how teams align with corporate objectives.
- Knowledge of vendor hiring, compliance, and budget management.
- Strong leadership to provide constructive feedback and navigate cross-departmental needs.
- Advanced technical proficiency in innovative production technologies like AR/VR/XR.
- Required: Bachelor's Degree.
