Program Assistant – Part-Time

The Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library seeks a friendly, enthusiastic individual for the position of part-time Program Assistant. We are hiring an organized and detail-oriented team member with excellent technical and customer service skills. The successful candidate will be able to take initiative and work independently. This position is ideal for individuals committed to supporting the local community.
This role involves collaborating with the Library Director to coordinate and implement programs for all ages. Experience working with children and/or teens is appreciated. All library staff cover the circulation desk; familiarity with Sierra ILS and the Mid-Hudson Library System is beneficial.
Two or more years of experience working in a public library or similar setting is essential. A High School Diploma is required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
PAY: $18.75 per hour
SCHEDULE: 25 hours per week, including Saturday and evening shifts.

Responsibilities
- Assist the library director with program management
- Program planning and development
- Communicate with program presenters, vendors, and staff.
- Registration
- Set up and close down
- Attend and supervise events as needed
- Record and/or photograph events
- Manage program supplies for arts, crafts, children’s activities, and more
- Review and maintain accurate information for our public calendar of events. Experience with LibCal is a plus.
- Collects statistical information for programs and events. Maintain detailed and accurate electronic files and records.
- Lead select workshops & clubs/groups
- Marketing
- Design promotional flyers
- Post announcements to public outlets, including newspapers, magazines, organizations, calendars, etc.
- Manage social media accounts
- Outreach to the local community
- Staff the Circulation/Help Desk
- Check out/in books and other materials
- Process holds
- Shelve books
- Assist patrons and answer questions
- Support and troubleshoot computers, printers, and scanners
- Collect data on library usage
- Open and close library
- Other duties as assigned
