Position Title: LEARNING MULTIMEDIA PRODUCER
Position Summary
This position is primarily responsible for:
1. Developing multimedia learning objects used across teaching modalities. This includes creating multimedia elements integrated into the delivery of course materials by working closely with faculty and staff to model multimedia design and delivery that advance the academic mission and meet the needs of instructors and students. In addition, this position works with Curriculum & Instructional Support (CIS) and other CMU constituents to create multimedia material to support and promote curricular and instructional initiatives.
2. Supporting and maintaining faculty recording facilities within CIS, supporting the application of specialized media production equipment in recorded, virtual, and streaming environments, and assisting faculty with technical problems in developing and/or revising content.
3. Serving as the lead documentation developer for the University’s enterprise video platform.
Required Qualifications
- bachelor’s degree or combination of education and experience equivalent to four years.
- Two years of relevant experience with multimedia production, instructional technologies, and multimedia applications.
- Two years of relevant experience working in a production studio environment.
- Project management experience.
- Ability to document processes and develop training materials in an enterprise-level knowledgebase environment.
- Knowledge, experience, and skills in audio and video production, graphic design, web design, and creating demonstrations/simulations.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of application software and hardware used in media delivery environments (lecture capture, video production, multimedia conversion, streaming, and virtual classrooms).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Understanding of current computer applications, software packages, desktop software, multimedia materials, and the online teaching and learning environments.
- Must be able to research current technological advances across a wide spectrum of technical disciplines: Audio, Video, Lighting, Computers, and Photography.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift and transport video production and streaming equipment (up to 50 lbs.).
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years experience in a media production studio environment.
- Three years experience in a customer-service environment.
- Three years experience providing training, workshops, and support for an enterprise-level lecture capture platform.
- Experience using and supporting technologies such as learning management systems, remote support and training applications, advanced audio routing hardware and software, and self-serve recording facilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Acts as the primary point of contact for training and support of the CIS teaching studios.
- Acts as Lead documentation developer and reviewer for the Panopto video platform.
- Provides video production equipment operation and support for all production environments within CIS.
- Coordinates the transportation of video and streaming equipment to main campus buildings and to regional CMU locations, including proper setup, operation, and maintenance of CIS multimedia resources.
- Assists with the production, critiquing, tracking, archiving, duplication, conversion, distribution, implementation, and invoicing of multimedia and streaming projects.
- Develops and presents workshops for multimedia technology initiatives. Trains staff and faculty to effectively implement multimedia software and hardware across modalities.
- Reviews and evaluates vendor software and hardware.
- Assumes all other professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Director and Learning Media Production team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
