We seek a dynamic educator and practicing artist who will contribute to our undergraduate and graduate programs while maintaining an active studio practice and scholarly agenda. Responsibilities Teaching & Advising (70%) Teach foundational courses in 2D and 3D design principles and practices Develop and deliver specialized courses in sculpture or ceramics Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in studio practice and research Supervise independent studies, theses, and capstone projects Participate in curriculum development and program assessment Expected teaching load: 2:3 Scholarly & Creative Activity (20%) Maintain an active and nationally/internationally recognized studio practice Exhibit work in professional venues and/or pursue publication opportunities Seek external funding and grants to support creative research Contribute to the scholarly discourse in contemporary art and pedagogy Outreach & Extension (5%) Contribute to recruitment and retention efforts Engage with the broader artistic community and professional organizations University Service & Leadership (5%) Serve on departmental, college, and university committees Participate in faculty governance and shared decision-making Minimum Education/Degree Required Listed degree qualification is required at time of hire. Required Qualifications MFA in Sculpture, Ceramics, or closely related field Equivalent of 3+ years university-level teaching experience beyond graduate teaching Experience teaching 2D/3D foundations courses Experience in sculpture or ceramics with established studio practice Established exhibition record Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching Pedagogy Experience coordinating classes in Foundations Experience with contemporary digital fabrication technologies Experience with traditional craft techniques Knowledge and skills in a second studio area Demonstrated ability to integrate contemporary art theory with studio practice Experience mentoring student research and creative projects Experience with community-engaged art practices Special Instructions to Applicants Curriculum vitae including education, exhibition history, publications, and teaching experience Three professional references with complete contact information Official transcripts (copies acceptable for initial review) Teaching portfolio (upload under “Other Document 1”) including: Teaching philosophy statement Sample syllabi for foundations and specialized courses Evidence of teaching effectiveness (evaluations, student feedback) including 20‑25 images of student works Artist statement (upload under “Other Document 2”) Digital portfolio (upload under “Other Document 3”) of recent creative work (20‑25 images) Cover letter addressing qualifications Applicant Resources For additional visa eligibility information contact the International Program Office at intlemp@uidaho.edu .
