Job Description:

LPC is seeking a Director of Music and Worship in a full‑time capacity. The Director of Music and Worship is a man who, in conjunction with the senior pastor, plans and implements the music and worship liturgy of LPC. The objective is to equip the congregation to “sing a new song” in vibrant, biblical worship, appropriately incorporating and preserving classic hymnody with the mindful use of new, rich hymns and songs to balance and to blend a robust spectrum of confessional worship in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:24 ).

Our worship follows the historic Presbyterian lineage of the Protestant Reformation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the pastors in the preparation of the weekly worship liturgy, utilizing biblical themes, readings, confessions, prayers, hymns, songs, and choir anthems that complement the sermon text.
  • Direct and lead music for worship services.
  • Prepare musical portions of the weekly worship guide and projections using current software.
  • Plan and implement liturgy for special services, including but not limited to Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Christmas Eve.
  • Rehearse with the worship team in preparation for worship services.
  • Communicate faithfully with the pastors, staff, and Worship Committee.
  • Supervise interns and the A/V Coordinator who participate in LPC music services.
  • Recruit, equip, motivate, supervise, and shepherd volunteer music team leaders and musicians.
  • Educate the congregation towards a better understanding of classical and modern hymnody.
  • Develop and manage the music ministry budget.
  • Oversee the maintenance and care of church instruments (e.g., cleaning, tuning).
  • Participate in the life and ministry of the church.
  • Direct an adult choir (this shall include selection of appropriate music, development of existing members of the choir, and recruitment of new members).
  • Work towards the development of a youth/children’s choir program.
  • Concerts: As resourcing permits, plan, promote, and host a concert series with Christian‑based musicians and groups.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Oversee the preparation of worship slides for projection.
  • Oversee A/V media on website and social media (apple podcasts, etc).
  • Personal Development/Resource: Stay abreast with the latest resources that discuss congregational worship and music ministry.
  • Oversee sound and technical aspects of worship.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

  • A commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and to the doctrinal standards of the PCA as articulated in the Westminster Confession of Faith and catechisms.
  • A clear call to music ministry with experience, expertise, and passion for worship.
  • Broad knowledge of Christian worship music across multiple styles and generational tastes.
  • Ability to lead congregation singing with voice and accompanying instrument (piano and/or guitar).
  • Degree(s) in music preferred.
  • Familiarity with software such as Planning Center, Microsoft Office, music notation software, and Church Center.
  • Ability to coordinate, motivate, and shepherd musicians and technical team members.
  • Dependable, responsible, self‑motivated, and creative.
  • Experience working in a church‑based music ministry with choirs and worship teams is highly desired. Prior experience in church music ministry preferred.
