Summary The main function of a technical writer is to write technical materials, such as device installation, setup, configuration and operation instructions, targeting internal audiences. This requires first gathering, organizing, and understanding such information from various engineering sources, before turning them into high quality documentation. Hands-on verification of the information on prototype devices is required. This position requires physical presence at Meta's office in New York City for a minimum of 3 days a week. Job Responsibilities Proactively interact with hardware, firmware and software engineers to become familiar with devices under development. Gather, organize and understand technical details of products under development, and produce high quality documentation targeting internal engineering customers. Continue to follow product development and update documentation accordingly. Skills Working knowledge of Linux, Windows and MacOS. Knowledge of common engineering documentation tools, such as wiki, markdown notations, version control, etc. Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills. Strong ability to work independently and manage one's time. Strong knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Strong knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods. Education/Experience Bachelor's degree required. Experience working with embedded devices under development. Professional experience in technical writing. #J-18808-Ljbffr
