The Mayor’s Office of Creative Communications team is responsible for generating digital content representative of mayoral policy and its impact on everyday New Yorkers. The team utilizes social media to communicate the unique voice of the administration through live coverage, official photos, videos, graphics and more.
About the Role
Primary responsibilities include overseeing the following: videography; pre- and post-production editing, production. Additional responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Serve as a video producer in the Mayor's Office of Creative Communications
- Manage the shooting, production, writing, and editing of high-quality videos for public information releases
- Coordinate the intersections of multimedia projects and lead information sharing and communications efforts with compelling video stories that help people understand policies, projects, and initiatives
- Pitch and create compelling video content, from start to finish
- Edit video content for multiple platforms and channels
- Lead video shoots with high-ranking principals
- Manage equipment and support Director in managing the team
- Provide on the ground video and photo coverage of live events
- Serve as a video producer in the Mayor's Office of Creative Communication
Hours/Shift
Day. Due to the necessary support duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to work various shifts such as weekends and/or evenings.

Minimum Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above, or
- High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above, or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
Preferred Skills
- Strong editorial judgement, with at least 3-5 years in an editorial/newsroom setting
- Proven acumen with Sony Alpha cameras and lenses
- Ability to set up 3-point lighting, set up cameras and manage technical production of in-studio filming
- Highly skilled at editing with Adobe Premiere Pro
- A keen eye for narrative pacing for Social, short-form, and long-form video formats
- Deep knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud
- Advanced Adobe After Effects skills a plus
- Ability to stand up location shoots as a one-person crew
- Can easily shift between iPhone/Vertical videography and mirrorless camera videography
- Adept at collaborating with diverse array of stakeholders on video projects
- Experience collaborating with photographers, graphic designers, and social media content creators
- Ability to script and produce video segments
- Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
