What to Expect The Studio Specialist will support the fabrication, assembly, and finishing of physical prototypes in coordination with the Design and New Programs Engineering teams. The Advanced R&D Prototyping team is small, highly motivated, and thrives in our rapid development environment. This role offers the rare opportunity to participate in the creation of new and genuinely cutting‑edge vehicles and products.
The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal and communication skills. They must be able to balance tight deadlines with demanding quality requirements. Additionally, they must establish and maintain a professional working relationship with external and internal teams, including designers, engineers, fabricators, and suppliers.
What You’ll Do
Perform advanced surfacing techniques to prepare parts for sprayed coatings and assembly
Fixture, fabricate, assemble, and support all aspects of prototype builds
Cross‑functionally collaborate with customer departments to interpret concepts and execute physical prototypes
Manage and maintain paint shop consumables inventory
Operate shop equipment, including spray booths, waterjets, TIG/MIG welders, and tools
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fabrication and finishing processes to meet tight deadlines
What You’ll Bring
At least 8 years of hands‑on experience in fabrication, prep, and paint application techniques, or equivalent evidence of exceptional ability, with proficiency in related tools (e.g., sanding blocks, paint guns, TIG/MIG welders)
Preferred experience in automotive design and prototyping, including familiarity with rapid methods, troubleshooting, and process optimization
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., travel as needed, and maintain flexibility for shifts, overtime, and weekend work based on business needs
Strong understanding of safety protocols, team performance, and maintaining a high‑quality studio environment
Capability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative setting with strict attention to detail and cross‑functional teamwork
Ability to interpret documentation from Engineering and Design departments to execute prototypes effectively
Highly motivated attitude, self‑starter mindset, and absolute team player who is proactive in improving processes and driving projects (examples required)
Excellent communication skills, including strong command of English (written and verbal), resourcefulness, and mindful time management

Expected Compensation $30.02 – $60.99 /hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
