Interim Library Director, Flint Public Library (Middleton) Position: Interim Library Director. Department: Library. Salary: $75–$80 per hour ($10,500–$11,200 per month). Hours: 35 per week. Employment: Full‑time temporary (4–6 month contract). Closing: Applications reviewed on receipt.

Location: The Town of Middleton is hiring the interim director for the Flint Public Library. Desired start: mid‑November/early December.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and direction for all library operations under the policy direction of the Library Board of Trustees and the administrative direction of the Town Administrator.

Support a team that includes 1 assistant director, 5 full‑time librarians, 4 part‑time circulation assistants, 2 part‑time pages, and 4 part‑time custodians.

Attend day‑to‑day operations; available for weekday evenings and occasional Sunday support. Not responsible for building the FY27 operating budget or attending evening Trustees meetings.

Advance the library mission to inform, enrich, and empower the community by creating easy access to information and promoting lifelong learning.

Qualifications

MLIS or equivalent.

At least 5 years of library supervisory experience, preferably as a library director in Massachusetts.

Experience in day‑to‑day library operations; payroll experience is a plus but not required.

Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to guide a dedicated staff.
