Job Description NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 San Diego are looking for a
Photographer
to help our news team gather and present compelling news stories to our viewers. You will be responsible for shooting and editing stories, including spot news and features, and setting up live shots.
Job Responsibilities:
Understand and practice ethical journalism
Gather news facts and create compelling stories when on assignment with or without a reporter
Work with daily deadlines
Edit video for broadcast, streaming and social platforms.
Responsible for daily operation of all ENG equipment including ENG cameras, ENG editing gear, audio, lighting and microwave equipment, and cellular bonded technology
Monitor and understand government and public service radio frequencies
Operate motor vehicles and live trucks
Perform other related duties to ensure high quality news coverage
Contribute to social media coverage
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years' experience as a news photographer
High school diploma or equivalency certificate required
Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds of gear
Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must have the ability to work any of a 24/7 shift
Must be able to provide a reel/portfolio of work examples -- if available, include a web address when you submit your resume
Desired Characteristics:
Bilingual (English/Spanish) both written and verbal is preferred
Thorough understanding of computer technology as it relates to non‑linear editing and HD photography including video compression
Familiarity with Sony ENG Cameras, DSLR Cameras, and Adobe Premiere
Ability to solve problems and adapt to changing situations
Familiarity with social media such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter
Ability to provide written and visual content to the website
Broadcast writing skills
Knowledge of Dalet Galaxy or other computer-based editing
College or vocational school education in broadcast communications, journalism or photography
Team player with a great attitude and adaptive to flexible work environment
Motivated with the ability to work unsupervised
Display a positive work ethic and ability to work under tight deadlines
High degree of integrity and professionalism
Additional Requirements:
Required On‑Site : This position is required to be performed full‑time from an NBCUniversal‑designated worksite.
