Base pay range $100.00/hr - $100.00/hr
Certain spaces simply work. You instinctively want to understand why. If you're a designer who perceives both granular detail and overarching structure, who operates best in physical environments rather than concept boards, and who is convinced that well-designed, functional spaces can scale effectively, this position will put your talents into action.
We are establishing a nationwide network of 2 Hour Learning campuses—spaces where students complete a full academic day in two focused hours, then dedicate the remainder to exploring interests, developing practical skills, and staying active. Your responsibility is to make these environments memorable. Serving as the execution lead for interior environments across the network, you will establish modular standards covering layout, FF&E, play areas, and wayfinding. You will guarantee precise implementation at every location. You will visit campuses, identify overlooked issues, develop upgrade plans, and manage them from budgeting through installation.
This role differs from conventional design positions—you won't be isolated from execution. You won't simply deliver drawings and move on. You will be present to resolve installation issues, guide vendors, and gather insights that refine subsequent rollouts. If you are prepared to translate your design expertise into national-scale impact, this is the opportunity.
What You Will Be Doing
Establish modular, self-service design frameworks for layout, FF&E, finishes, and play areas that function across varied campus environments
Perform on-site evaluations using standardized assessment tools to measure alignment with brand standards and identify high-value enhancements
Produce detailed, visual, budgeted recommendations for spatial improvements that support pedagogy, brand identity, and family engagement
Manage vendor implementation on-site, maintaining adherence to design standards, financial parameters, and schedules through active quality assurance
Complete the feedback cycle after installation by recording successes and failures, then revising operational guides to reflect lessons learned
What You Won’t Be Doing
Designing custom, boutique environments that cannot be systematically scaled or duplicated.
Delivering specifications and disengaging. You own the entire process from evaluation through installation.
Waiting for complete information. This position values proactive thinking, rapid iteration, and sound judgment under uncertainty.
Generating unrestricted creative concepts from zero. The work is tightly aligned with brand identity and operational requirements.
Operating remotely. You will spend 50-75% of your time traveling and working on-site.
VP Of Space And Design Key Responsibilities Guarantee that each campus provides a premium, brand-consistent, and pedagogically effective physical environment through the development and execution of scalable modular design systems that maintain quality standards.
Basic Requirements
5+ years of experience designing and implementing multi-site environments in education, retail, hospitality, or co-working sectors
Portfolio demonstrating completed projects that integrate aesthetic excellence with operational feasibility
Proven ability to develop scalable, standards-driven design systems rather than singular custom environments
Hands-on management of vendor implementation, including quality control of installations and adherence to project timelines
Excellent documentation capabilities and communication skills with cross-functional teams, particularly non-design partners
Available and willing to travel extensively, 50-75% of the time, throughout the United States
U.S.-based and authorized to work without requiring visa sponsorship
Nice-to-have Requirements
Background designing premium environments with rigorous quality expectations, such as boutique hospitality, luxury retail, or high-end residential projects
Proficiency with spatial documentation platforms such as AutoCAD, Revit, Figma, or comparable tools
An intuitive ability to identify what elevates a space to premium quality, even within constrained budgets
