Culver Academies is a private boarding school located on the shore of Lake Maxinkuckee. The campus spans 1,800 acres of green hills and woodlands, featuring historic Gothic architecture and a serene setting with access to nearby large cities, including South Bend (home of the University of Notre Dame) and cities within two hours such as Chicago and Indianapolis.
The Digital Media Specialist is an artist—an expert filmmaker and photographer—who creates compelling audiovisual content for the Advancement department and other teams. The primary objective is to increase awareness, student, camper, and donor acquisition. As the principal content creator for our social media channels, the specialist must understand the “voice of the customer” and craft content that drives enrollment and donor engagement.
Responsibilities
- Execute high‑quality video and photography projects within specified budgets and timelines.
- Develop content plans, shoot, and edit video/photos under strict deadlines.
- Manage pre‑production tasks: scriptwriting/selection, casting, staging.
- Coordinate production assets: camera, lighting, audio, support staff.
- Create complementary graphics and captions to enhance the final product.
- Collaborate with the Digital Marketing Manager and the Digital Media Team to create and manage the social media content calendar for official accounts.
- Track social media metrics and recommend areas for improvement.
- Evaluate and recommend new AV products and technologies that benefit the campus.
- Contribute creative ideas to better engage audiences in a collaborative team environment.
In addition to these responsibilities, the specialist will support students in areas such as spiritual life, academics, athletics, and campus activities, contributing to our mission of a whole‑person education.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Media, Film and Video Production, Multimedia Journalism, Marketing, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum two years of professional or serious amateur content‑creation experience, particularly for social media.
- Proven ability to propose innovative ideas and willingness to learn new skills.
- Strong project‑management skills.
- Attention to detail and thorough follow‑up.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with current cameras and filmmaking equipment.
- Computer skills: MS Office, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign) or comparable video/photo editing software, and major social media platforms.
- Portfolio of work will be requested.
