The Stony Brook School seeks a talented, mission-aligned faculty member to join our Visual Arts Department beginning in August 2026. This role is expected to center on our foundational courses such as Studio Art, Advanced Art, Ceramics, and Middle School Art, with opportunities to design and teach advanced electives as departmental needs and candidate strengths allow.

Compensation
Salary Range: $34,397 - $106,000 Final salary will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and role responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's of Art or Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Visual Arts, Arts Education, or a related field (master's degree strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated growth mindset and eagerness to develop as a teacher, mentor, and colleague
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Eagerness to serve in a faith-based learning environment that emphasizes faithful Christian scholarship and character formation
- Create engaging SBS-aligned curriculum and lessons with clear objectives, strong materials, and thoughtful assessments that move students toward growth and mastery
- Strong background in studio art disciplines such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, or related areas
- Ability to teach both technical skills and creative process, from introductory to advanced levels
- Experience building student portfolios and guiding critique, revision, and presentation of work
- For candidates interested in teaching Ceramics, experience with wheel-thrown ceramics and electric kiln operation
- Desire to contribute to various aspects of school life (advisor, dorm parent, coach, club sponsor)

Compensation
