The pay range is $95,000.00 - $171,000.00

About the role:

As a Senior UX Researcher embedded within our broader Guest UX Team, you’ll shape Target’s evolving digital experiences for our guests and contribute to business growth. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and synthesizing research to create actionable insights for the cross-functional product development team. You will translate research data into powerful stories that help shape Target’s products. This role is a key partner to several functions including product managers, UX designers, engineers, data scientists, content designers, accessibility consultants, and site merchandisers.

As a member of our Guest UX Research Team, you’ll be working on the product lifecycle experience for our search capabilities. You’ll use tried and true research methodologies utilizing human-centered design thinking to deepen our understanding of our Guests’ experience, needs, and pain points with a focus on the end-to-end experience. As part of a cross functional team, you will help develop new ways of how we engage and support our guests across digital touchpoints.

As a member of the team, you will contribute to advancing the broader practice of UX at Target through influence, impact, and craft. We are an engaged, supportive, and increasingly diverse team focused on elevating the impact of our discipline.

Responsibilities:

Select and apply appropriate qualitative and quantitative research methods based on project needs

Conduct and synthesize qualitative and quantitative research projects, including in person and remote moderated & unmoderated testing, surveys, heuristic reviews, benchmark studies, concept testing, online & in-store intercepts, ethnographies

Support product teams (product managers, UX designers, engineering) throughout the research project life cycle – recommending appropriate methodology, scoping, and coordinating the entire process, facilitating in-field research and post-research synthesis through analysis

Communicate actionable recommendations to accelerate the impact of research

Assist the broader UX Research team in keeping our ongoing research library up-to-date and comprehensive

Contribute to a culture of human-centered practice within UX, product, and engineering teams by bringing the guest lens into product decisions

Navigate complexity and ambiguity within a matrixed organization

About you:

Minimum of 5 years' experience practicing UX design research for digital product teams

Experience in UX Research methods, including remote moderated and unmoderated testing, online and in-context (store) intercepts, experimenting with AI

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to cross functional partners

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable speaking to a diverse group of people and leading conversations to discover research insights

A strong ability to tell compelling stories from data to communicate insights and recommendations

Comfortable and confident when faced with ambiguity

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects (both small and large) and adjust to changing priorities

Strong project management skills – experience managing and tracking multiple projects at various stages in the product design life cycle

Experience running, recruiting, moderating, and analysis of online panels

Experience in a matrixed, agile environment

Proficient in research tools for remote testing, surveys, analysis, and reporting (User Testing, Qualtrics, Dscout, ChatGPT, etc.)

Preferred 4-year degree in Anthropology, Social Science, Design Research, Psychology, Human Factors, HCI, or related field

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
