The Senior Continuity Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the seamless flow of all broadcast and digital advertising across Hearst Television. This hybrid leadership role combines deep subject-matter expertise in traffic/continuity operations with strategic project leadership, team mentorship, and cross-departmental collaboration.

This position is ideal for a professional who excels in both technical execution and team leadership, with a strong desire to improve workflows, guide peers, and contribute to broader Ad Ops initiatives. The role offers a clear pathway toward future management opportunities within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence – Linear & Digital

  • Receive, interpret, and process all commercial traffic instructions (original and revised) from agencies and advertisers.
  • Assign and maintain commercial house numbers, content disposition, and instruction sets in WideOrbit.
  • Build and apply instruction/rotation sets for all applicable orders.
  • Monitor “Missing Instruction” and related reports; communicate promptly with agencies, sales teams, and stations to resolve discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with Content Distribution Specialists to ensure all required assets are received, accurate, and air-ready.
  • Review and issue commercial copy log changes as needed to maintain on-air quality.
  • Oversee digital campaign trafficking, ensuring accurate assignment of campaigns in PD360, Halo, GAM, AdBook, and other platforms.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on all digital creative assets, verifying functionality, click-throughs, and compliance.
  • Monitor ongoing digital campaign delivery and proactively make optimization recommendations to stations/clients.

Leadership, Mentorship & Team Development

  • Serve as a day-to-day resource and mentor for Continuity and Content Distribution team members, supporting their professional growth.
  • Provide leadership presence in team meetings, sharing insights and best practices.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive environment that encourages problem-solving, knowledge-sharing, and operational accountability.
  • Support onboarding and peer training to elevate team proficiency in both linear and digital workflows.

Process Improvement & Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and partner with management to develop and implement process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Master Control, Digital, and Ad Ops leadership to streamline communication and operational alignment.
  • Act as a liaison to management on project initiatives, providing updates, insights, and recommendations.
  • Work with the Business Process Manager to create and maintain training manuals, documentation, and SOPs for current and future employees.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in radio/television traffic, continuity, or similar operational roles.
  • Proficiency in systems such as WideOrbit, PD360, DMI, Halo, GAM, AdBook, and related platforms.
  • Strong understanding of agency commercial instruction terminology and trafficking workflows.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and offer solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive information.
