Overview
We are seeking an experienced
AV Design Lead
to oversee the planning, engineering, and delivery of advanced audiovisual systems for commercial, institutional, and enterprise environments. This individual will serve as a technical leader, supporting project teams, guiding system design standards, and ensuring best‑in‑class AV solutions that meet client needs and project objectives. Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and engineering of AV systems, including conferencing, collaboration, presentation, digital signage, control systems, and unified communication technologies.
Develop system concepts, signal flow diagrams, rack elevations, cable schedules, and detailed engineering drawings.
Collaborate with sales, project managers, and installation teams to fully understand project scope, client requirements, and integration goals.
Review architectural plans, construction documents, and specifications to ensure seamless coordination with other trades (IT, electrical, mechanical, low voltage).
Select equipment and technologies that align with project needs, budget, and industry best practices.
Conduct site surveys and coordinate with contractors and consultants during design and installation phases.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and quality control for AV design and engineering staff.
Prepare and present design packages, technical documentation, and system performance reports to internal teams and clients.
Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of AV systems as needed.
Stay current with emerging AV/IT technologies, industry standards, and manufacturer updates.
Qualifications
5–10+ years of experience in AV system design, engineering, or integration.
Strong proficiency with AV design software and tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, and EASE.
Deep knowledge of AV technologies including DSPs, control systems, video conferencing platforms, displays, speakers, and signal transport (HDBaseT, AV‑over‑IP).
Experience with leading manufacturers such as Crestron, Extron, QSC, Biamp, Shure, Cisco, and similar.
CTS‑D certification strongly preferred; CTS or other industry certifications a plus.
Strong understanding of architectural coordination, cable infrastructure, and installation standards.
Excellent communication, technical writing, and client‑facing skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading a design team or overseeing engineering staff.
Familiarity with enterprise AV standards, hybrid collaboration environments, and network‑centric AV deployments.
Knowledge of related systems such as security, IT networking, or low‑voltage infrastructure.
