Description

The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication at Hofstra University is pleased to invite applicants to apply for an adjunct faculty position in the Department of Journalism, Media Studies, and Public Relations (JMSPR) at Hofstra University to teach courses focused on sports communication, sports media, and strategic communication and/or other related courses.
We seek a candidate who can teach sports communication courses, specifically sports promotion within both the Public Relations and Strategic Communication major and Sports Media major. The preferred candidate will have a strong background in publicity and promotion and communication processes from multiple perspectives, including sports public relations, community engagement, event planning, content creation, consumer-centric promotion, social media, earned, owned and paid media strategies, and other sports-related platforms.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of professional experience in the sports communication field.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Candidates must be available to begin teaching in the spring 2026 semester.
  • Can teach introductory courses for multiple platforms, which include practical and ethical considerations in gathering, analyzing, and communicating strategic communication goals.

Salary/Salary Range
$1,458-$1,711 per credit hour

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture, and a benefits program which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions.
