THE POSITION: Senior Manager, Email & CRM Marketing
The Senior Manager, Email & CRM Marketing will be the strategic owner and subject matter expert for The Shade Store’s entire CRM strategy and email communication program. This senior-level role is responsible for driving retention and customer lifetime value (LTV) through the development, execution, and optimization of a sophisticated, personalized email strategy, encompassing both promotional and lifecycle/automated campaigns. This position requires deep technical expertise, strong analytical abilities, and proven success in scaling an email program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Email & CRM Strategy and Ownership
- Develop and Own the Email Strategy: Define, build, and execute the comprehensive roadmap for the email marketing channel, aligning it with company-wide revenue targets, customer acquisition, and retention goals.
- Maximize Customer Lifetime Value (LTV): Lead the strategy for all lifecycle marketing programs (e.g., welcome, abandonment, post-purchase, win-back) to increase customer retention, repeat purchase rate, and LTV through advanced segmentation and personalization.
- Advanced Testing and Optimization: Design and oversee a rigorous A/B and multivariate testing framework for all key metrics (deliverability, open rates, CTR, conversion rate, revenue per email). Lead the transition to more complex, sophisticated personalization logic.
- Performance Analysis & Reporting: Analyze the performance of all email, push, and SMS/Direct Mail campaigns, providing executive-level insights and actionable recommendations to drive continuous channel growth and efficiency.
- New Channel Strategy – own the evolution into SMS and other potential channels
Cross-Functional Leadership & Operations
- Campaign Management Oversight: Oversee the entire email production process, including content briefing, list segmentation, quality assurance (QA), scheduling, and deployment, ensuring flawless execution across all communications.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary liaison between Marketing, Creative, Product, IT, and Data Science teams to ensure CRM data integrity, seamless integration of new features, and consistent brand messaging.
- Budget and Vendor Management: Manage the email marketing budget, track expenditures, and oversee relationships with key technology vendors (ESP, CDP, etc.) to ensure optimal platform performance.
- Maintain Channel Health: Own and monitor email deliverability, list hygiene, and compliance with CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and other relevant privacy regulations.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR (Qualifications)
- 5+ years of progressive experience in digital marketing, with a minimum of 3+ years directly managing an email marketing or CRM program for an e-commerce or retail brand.
- Demonstrated success in owning a channel and driving significant measurable revenue growth (quantifiable results required).
- Deep technical expertise with leading Enterprise Email Service Providers (ESPs) and Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) is required (e.g., Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Iterable, Segment, etc.).
- Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, strategic narratives and actionable business recommendations for executive leadership.
- Expertise in customer segmentation, lifecycle marketing, dynamic content creation, and cross-channel attribution .
- Strong organizational skills, extreme attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality output in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
