The Opportunity Distribution Designer I is responsible for creating electric and/or gas distribution designs and coordinating with clients, electric/gas customers, and construction crews. Field work includes collecting existing asset data before design creation and staking equipment locations during construction. The Distribution Designer I collaborates with senior designers to successfully complete projects.

What You’ll Do

Create safe and efficient gas, electric, and streetlight distribution designs using company standards.

Communicate with engineers for design approval.

Understand and follow client standards and respond to changing client needs.

Develop proficiency in desktop, mobile, and survey software used for the design process.

Conduct field data collection of existing assets.

Stake facility locations, potentially using survey-grade technology.

Create a bill of materials.

Utilize quality checklists and ensure a quality product is delivered.

Apply for and secure necessary city, county, and state permits.

Share knowledge with the design team, scheduling staff, clients, crews, and contractors.

Write gas procedures and ensure safe execution.

Primarily manage your own workload.

Meet project timelines for assigned work.

Communicate progress and delays to team members.

What We Expect From You

Minimum two-year technical degree in engineering or related construction, GIS, or equivalent project management experience.

0–3 years of relevant experience in distribution design, GIS, or distribution construction.

Beginner level knowledge and training to develop a working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS, ArcFM, SmallWorld, Bentley Utility Designer, SAP, Trimble Access, O-Calc, PLSCADD, or other distribution design software and tools.

Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines by setting priorities.

Excellent verbal and written communication, time‑management, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Ability to work well within a team.

Take ownership of work quality and respond to coaching from higher‑level staff.

Travel in the Denver metro area required.

Demonstrate openness to innovation by embracing and applying evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement.

Must have authorization to work permanently in the US.

Target Base Compensation Range:

$30.00 – $42.45
