Shift Information Sunday - Wednesday 3pm - 1:30am

Summary Provides day-to-day supervision of clinical laboratory personnel and performs various clinical laboratory test procedures. Effectively leads and supports team members through clear communication, constructive feedback, and consistent guidance. Demonstrates the ability to manage performance, foster professional development, and build a positive, collaborative team environment. Skilled in conflict resolution, workload delegation, and motivating staff to achieve individual and organizational goals.

Duties And Responsibilities

Prepares and maintains schedules and provides appropriate laboratory coverage to ensure timely results reporting

Participates in the interview and hiring process and trains new laboratory employees

Develops and maintains standard operating procedures for the laboratory

Maintains laboratory stock levels and orders laboratory supplies

Reviews instrument maintenance logs, QC records and takes appropriate actions if systems deviate from the laboratory’s established specification

Performs testing and troubleshoots assay performance

Compiles, evaluates and analyzes data

Regularly provides performance feedback, mentors employees and completes annual performance reviews

Regularly verifies staff training and competency according to the laboratory regulations

Maintains laboratory compliance according to CAP, NY, CLIA regulations and 5S standards

Performs other job‑related duties as assigned

Skillset

Including but not limited to molecular diagnostic techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR set up, liquid handler operations, or NGS library preparation and sequencing

Demonstrates strong problem‑solving skills by accurately identifying and assessing abnormal test performance and making appropriate, timely decisions to ensure accurate results and maintain testing quality

Qualifications/Experience

Education and Experience:

Required:

Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of experience with clinical samples

Master’s degree and at least 2 years of experience with clinical samples

PhD degree and at least 1 year of experience with clinical samples

Certification/Licenses/Registration

Preferred: MB (ASCP)
