Sr. Director, Marketing Modernization Location: Philadelphia, PA or Durham, NC

The Sr. Director Marketing Modernization and Enterprise Capabilities role will allow a senior leader to take ownership of modernizing marketing across GSK US Commercial and is accountable for developing enterprise marketing competencies. This role sets new standards, builds future‑ready skills, and transforms ways of working through direct leadership and partnership with the Marketing Leadership Team, Tech, Insights & Analytics, Sales and other US/Global cross‑functional stakeholders. To be successful in this role the incumbent must be adept at change management to ensure the organization is achieving a step change in how U.S. Commercial delivers marketing.

Marketing Modernization: Build and evolve the marketing capability framework, ensuring all marketers possess the skills and mindset to deliver competitive strategies and interventions.

Framework Ownership: Develop and continually improve the GSK Marketing Capability Framework to reflect modern practices and drive measurable business impact.

Vision & Communication: Lead change through consistent, clear, and proactive communication of the marketing vision, driving organizational alignment and engagement.

Change Management Leadership: Design and implement enterprise‑wide change management strategies to ensure adoption of new marketing standards and practices.

Innovation: Champion a culture of innovation by identifying, piloting, and scaling new marketing approaches, technologies, and methodologies.

AI: Lead the evaluation and adoption of AI‑driven marketing tools and analytics to enhance campaign effectiveness and operational efficiency.

Talent Strategy: Define role expectations, proficiency levels, and career pathways. Partner with HR and the Marketing Leadership Team (MLT) to attract, retain, and upskill marketing talent.

Curriculum Design: Build and deploy live and on‑demand learning programs, including external partner‑led training.

Performance Metrics: Track progress using enterprise assessment scores, campaign ROI, brand mROI, MMIx, and customer engagement metrics. Drive measurable improvements in marketing effectiveness.

Agency Partnerships: Proactively partners with key agency partners to educate and embed key processes and tools.

Strategic Leadership: Manage and optimize relationships with external agencies to ensure alignment with strategic marketing goals and drive performance.

Performance Management: Set clear expectations and KPIs for agency partners, regularly assess performance, and drive accountability for results.

Collaboration & Innovation: Foster collaborative, innovative, and mutually beneficial relationships with agencies to accelerate marketing modernization and deliver breakthrough work.

Integration: Ensure agency partners are fully integrated into GSK’s ways of working, supporting cross‑functional initiatives and enterprise transformation.

People Leadership & Management

Lead and develop a team of business unit‑aligned Marketing Capability & Marketing Excellence Directors and their subordinates.

Set clear direction for direct reports aligned with Ahead Together goals.

Develop key performance metrics for your team and ensure they are consistent with the overall plans for SITO.

Achieve measurable progress and results with and through your team.

Provide direct reports with appropriate coaching, mentoring and development.

Why You? Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

A minimum of 15 years of commercial experience in the healthcare/pharmaceutical/biotech sector

A minimum of 10 years of marketing experience across multiple therapeutic areas within a large market in the pharmaceutical/biotech sector

A minimum of 8 years leading and developing teams

Experience leading and delivering an enterprise‑wide initiative across multiple stakeholders and functions

Experience leading change initiatives in a function

Preferred Qualifications

MBA in marketing

Confirmed track record of meeting and exceeding performance targets

Extensive marketing experience both inside and outside of pharma

Navigate cross‑functional dynamics to deliver enterprise‑wide initiatives at pace and scale resulting in a positive long‑term impact

Able to inspire audiences, clearly convey complex ideas, anticipate challenges and secure senior stakeholder alignment

Demonstrated success in delivering change within a results‑driven and dynamic environment

Proven record of driving performance across diverse teams and functions

Ability to influence senior leadership and deliver goals across the matrix

Experience in developing talent and designing learning programs

Strong business and marketing acumen, curiosity, and willingness to innovate

Experience leading and developing high‑performing teams
