Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities The PBX Operator answers a multi-incoming computerized PBX system and directs calls to the appropriate extension, department, or individual.

Dispatches Security Officers to calls that may involve suspicious activity occurring on Hoag properties, crimes in progress, unsafe situations related to the physical environment, traffic or parking related matters, or issues pertaining to workplace violence as well as routing calls for key assists, patrols, escorts, etc.

Responsible for monitoring and responding appropriately to All Emergencies including activating various types of Emergency Codes in the Hospital (both Disaster/Emergency and Medical Emergency), Security situations consisting of panic alarms and emergency lock downs for all Hoag campuses, Fire alarms, elevator alarms, and equipment failure. Emergency responses may include use of the hospital wireless messaging system, overhead paging, and dispatching Security via radio.

Assists in transferring and connection of outgoing calls, operator-assistance calls, toll calls, and international calls for physicians, Hospital personnel, and patients.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required: High School Diploma, or equivalent Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Preferred:

Six months PBX experience in an acute hospital environment

License Required

Valid California driver's license for those who are authorized to operate Hoag vehicles.
